Ketamine Therapy

Abilene Brain Center is proud to offer intravenous ketamine infusion therapy. This therapy is designed to treat depression in patients resistant to traditional antidepressants.

An innovative approach, ketamine therapy offers an effective and safe means to quickly reduce and even resolve symptoms of depression, trauma or PTSD and suicidal thoughts.

TMS

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) uses MRI technology to stimulate a part of the brain, which is significantly underactive in patients with Major Depressive Disorder. By doing so, the brain “exercises” this underused portion, reinforcing emotionally balanced neural networks.

TMS includes 30-36 sessions every business-day; Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes while the patient sits in a comfortable chair. Unlike many antidepressants, TMS has no systemic side-effects

There is Hope for Treatment Resistant Depression

We provide specialized psychiatric therapies for patients with depression, ADHD, and more.

We know that finding the right depression treatment can be difficult, time-consuming and overwhelming.

Start the Conversation About Treating Your Depression Differently

Depression is a very common condition, affecting over 150 million people worldwide. A serious mental health condition, depression can be difficult to treat in some people. In fact, approximately 15-20% of people who try antidepressant medication do not respond to it. Treatment-RESISTANT DEPRESSION (TRD) is a particularly serious form of the disorder, which refers to cases where standard antidepressant treatments don’t work.

What makes TRD so difficult to treat?

There are a number of potential reasons why traditional antidepressant therapies may not be effective in treating TRD. These antidepressants might not reach all the cells in the brain that need treatment. They might have side effects that make them unacceptable for some patients. Or their effectiveness might be limited by other factors such as age or comorbid conditions.

One of the most common reasons for TRD is that the individual’s brain has become resistant to the effects of antidepressants. This means that even after taking care of their diet and exercise habits, following a prescribed dosage schedule, and trying different antidepressants (or combinations thereof), they still experience little if any improvement in their mood or function.

Often patients are told there is little that can be done to treat their depression at this state, leading to an even greater strain in ….
